Hamster problems. Help?

Me and my brother just got new syrian hamsters on March 15 (yesterday). Mine is named Sniffles and his is Cheddar. Sniffles is VERY shy. They are both female babies. They are both in separate cages. Every time I go to do ANYTHING in the cage, Sniffles starts flipping out and running. I left her alone yesterday without touching her. But today I went to give her an apple, and she just went crazy! She was hiding in the corner of her tank with the strangest expression I've ever seen. She's still there now, but asleep. How can I make her not afraid of me?
