Can gastric trouble cause pain just under the rib cage( upper lever)...?

Yes. I have acid reflux and when it was bad it felt like I was having a heart attack! You can even feel it in your upper throat and into the shoulder area. I am now taking Nexium once a day and it is much better. You should see a gastroenterologist for a correct diagnosis.
