New Yorkers Please ANswer this Question!?

I have a full week off next week....from Monday to Sunday. I live in the U.K. I want to see New York....but haven't booked a thing. I don't mind staying somewhere very posh....but don't have a clue...where to go or what to see! So...need to know the names of some nice posh hotels in New York City ....and places to visit in a week! I am single...and travelling alone.....so needs to be stuff....which doesn't require other people...if you catch my drift lol
