Why was it more important to focus on Healthcare rather than the Economy last spring?

Why wasn't there more emphasis on the Economy, rather than Healthcare? Is this the main reason for the change at the elections? Do you think the Republicans should focus more on repealing healthcare, or finally fixing the economy?
