Was i wrong to break up with my boyfriend...?

I broke up with my boyfriend because he was 18 and still in freshman cl and was dropping out next year. I don't want a guy messing with my plans in the future because he was talking about kids and i am still in school. i was ok with the kids with him but i would like to go to college and focus on that not a baby!! I love kids and i see myself having kids with him but not right now..I feel bad that i broke up with him because we were planing our lifes together..
